Alvorada

Guitarist Geoffrey Esty has formally studied Classical and Jazz Guitar, and taught himself many other guitar styles. His Classical study included Latin American composers such as Villa-Lobos (Brazil) and Piazzolla (Argentina.) His Jazz study included the Brazilian Jazz music of Antonio Carlos Jobim & Egberto Gismonti. He has worked with Detroit’s premier Latin drummer Miguel Gutierrez, and has performed in live sessions with several of Detroit’s Jazz artists including saxophonist Rafael Statin, drummer Alex White, bassist Damon Warmack, & keyboardists Glenn Tucker & Ian Finkelstein. He has also worked with singer & gyll player Kofi Ameyaw in the West African-Latin-Jazz fusion band SunKwa, and with Ibrahim Aminou of Zoumountchi, a West African-Reggae-Worldbeat fusion band. Geoff’s guitar performances have been broadcast live on Metro Detroit's NPR-Affiliate WEMU, and on WJR’s Mitch Albom Show.

Vocalist Jade Fairfax grew up in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe parish in La Habra, California, and at a young age performed Mexican & Mexican-American Music. While in high school she discovered the Music of Brazil and other Latin American countries. Her musical path took her to Michigan, where she graduated from the University of Michigan School of Music. Her singing experience includes Rock, Pop, Country, R&B, Jazz, Latin, Classical, Renaissance Music, and Musical Theatre. She has composed and produced film score recordings that have been placed in regional films, including a Los Angeles indie film.
